Life in changing environmental conditions
People of the Clovis Culture lived when changes in climate, plants, and animals followed the retreat of the northern glaciers, 11,000 to 10,000 years ago. The landscape, as well as the plant and animal distributions were different from today. Warm dry summers, cool dry winters, and highly variable temperatures and rainfall were drying out the moist Southern Plains, leaving mainly grasslands with many marshy areas.
